Take notes on a PDF, page by page
Read on the left, write on the right. Every page gets its own notepad, saved as you type and waiting for you next time you open the same file.
Runs in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded. No sign-up, no watermark.

How PDF notes work here
- Open a PDF. The Notes panel opens beside it (below it on a phone).
- Write against each page. The note for the page you're reading is highlighted as you scroll; "Go to page" jumps back.
- Come back any time. Notes are saved in this browser every few keystrokes and reappear when you open the same file again.
- Take them with you: export as a Markdown file with a heading per page, or pin them into the PDF as comments.
Notes beside the page vs. comments on it
Comments and highlights change the document: they are for someone else to see. Reading notes are yours: questions, summaries, links to other sources. Keeping them beside the PDF leaves the file clean to share, and Markdown export means they end up in the notes app you already use rather than locked inside a PDF.
Want both? Mark passages with highlights as you read, keep your thinking in the notepad.
A method that works for long documents
- First pass: one line per page on what it says, in your own words.
- Second pass: questions and disagreements, prefixed with "?" so they are easy to find.
- Finish: press "Tidy into a summary" to collect key points with page numbers and your open questions in one place.
Questions people ask
Where are my PDF notes stored?
In your browser's local storage on this device, keyed to the PDF's file name and size. Re-open the same file later and the notes come back. They are not synced to other devices and are deleted if you clear site data.
Can I get my notes into the PDF itself?
Yes. "Pin as PDF comments" adds each page's notes as a sticky comment in the top corner of that page; they are saved in the downloaded PDF and open in any reader.
What does "Tidy into a summary" do?
It sends your typed notes (not the PDF) to an AI model, which returns a short summary, key points with page numbers and any to-dos found in the notes. It is told not to add facts that aren't in your notes, but check the result.
Can I use this for studying?
That's what it is good at: open a lecture PDF or paper, write notes against each page as you read, export them as Markdown into Obsidian, Notion or any notes app.
